To say that L.C. Amalin is having a bad day would be a bit like saying the universe is a big place. She's been shot, punched in the face, chased by her best friend who's trying to kill her ... and as if that weren't bad enough, there's a prophecy about her saving the universe.
She hates prophecies.
Caught up in a destiny she isn't certain she wants to fulfill, the former Radox Corp sergeant ends up as an outcast scrambling around the galaxy in a beat-up (piece of) Junk Class fighter with an ultra-creepy prophet, an improbable thief, a navigator who speaks a dead language, and a captain too much like a legend for his own good.
To compound their troubles as they hunt for the ring that fits no man's hand, L.C. and the crew find themselves chased across the universe by the interstellar Mafia and the Yir — an enemy from L.C.'s past. At the same time, L.C. dodges the relentless pursuit of her best friend, Cody, who's determined to carry out the execution order on her head.
It's a toss-up for what's going to kill her first, but then, L.C. has never been the sort to roll over and die. She's not happy about it, but if the universe forces the issue, she'll see what she can do about saving it.
